About Time to Live
Time to Live (TTL) is a funding programme that provides microgrants to unpaid carers so that they can take a short break. The aim of the funding is to increase the range and availability of short breaks across Scotland. 'Delivery Partners' in each local authority area are supplied with funding and support from Shared Care Scotland to allocate the funds to carers. The funding is provided by Scottish Government.
The need for these funds across Scotland has grown over the years, and due to the hard work and dedication of delivery partners, Shared Care Scotland and the Scottish Government, additional criteria and careful management has been adopted ensuring carers have a quality break from caring.
Time to Live was allocated £3.5 million from Scottish Government and distributed as follows:
- £2.5 million used for microgrants and was allocated to each Local Authority delivery partner using the Carer Population Equation (CPE).
- £1 million used by TTL delivery partners to cover associated operational running costs
Delivery partners
In the table below are links to the TTL delivery partners in each Local Authority Area, these are the Organisations that are allocated the funding to distribute to carer centres in these areas. TTL delivery partners adhere to to the guidelines set by Shared Care Scotland and include the eligibility criteria, principles, and outcomes of the fund.
The microgrant schemes must be available to ALL carers, including adult carers, parent carers, and young carers, and should be used to take a short break. Carers can choose to have a break with or without the person that they care for, however the TTL delivery partner must be satisfied that a break taken benefits the carer and the cared for person, even if indirectly (mutual benefit).
