Research
Shared Care Scotland works to ensure that those policy makers and those involved in planning and commissioning short breaks across Scotland have accessible to the best possible evidence through short breaks research.
We do this through commissioning our own research when appropriate and by working with others to develop a collection of best practice evidence and research.
UK short breaks research and practice development group
Shared Care Scotland is a founding member of the UK Short Breaks Research and Practice Development Group. This group was established in 2017 to help support a culture of research excellence and to facilitate knowledge exchange between academia and practice. The aim is to improve understanding of short breaks and to inform future research in ways that can support continuous improvement in policy and practice.
International research
Shared Care Scotland is also a founding member of the international BREAK Exchange (Building Respite Evidence & Knowledge), an international network to promote cooperation on research across a global network. This network is hosted by the University of Wisconsin, USA hosts of the 2020 International Short Breaks Association Conference.
