Policy & practice development
A balanced view
We believe that Shared Care Scotland sits in a unique position between carers, supported people, service providers, local and national governments. This helps to make sure that all our policy work is informed by a balanced view.
Policy and practice
Short breaks policy has changed significantly over the past decade.
The introduction of the Carers Act - and the proposed National Care Service - have placed breaks from caring higher up the political agenda.
We have worked to influence this at a policy level by contributing to the development of guidance and regulation, and by working closely with colleagues across the sector and in government.
We have also taken opportunities to develop and improve areas of short break practice. This has included 'test of change' projects such as Promoting variety, and practical support such as guides to creating Short Break Service Statements.
