Brief description:
The Beacon Club is a day support service for people with dementia/memory loss in South West Edinburgh, providing a range of activities aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness and preserving independent living skills. Clients are collected and returned to their homes by bus with a trained escort.

Full service description:
The day care service runs 4 days per week. On Mondays and Thursdays members are collected from the Broomhouse area. On Tuesday and Wednesday members are collected from the Juniper Green, Currie and Balerno area. Clients are collected from their homes and brought to the club, where they have tea and coffee and discuss the choice of activities and meals for the day. There is a varied programme of activities such as board games, singing, keep fit classes, reminiscence and quizzes to name but a few. There are also outings to various locations for example: The Portrait Gallery, a trip on the Ratho Barge, coffee at local garden centre, trips to the theatre and local beauty spots.
Price information:
The club costs £10.00 per day which covers transport, lunch and refreshments, activities and outings.
