Brief description:

QCCC provides Day Care opportunities for older people who have additional support needs, including those with a diagnosis of dementia, stroke or other long-term health conditions. Day Care is available to anyone over the age of 65 on a continuous basis. One of the most important aspects of day care is that it allows people to socialise with their peers. QCCC promotes a person centred approach to delivering services with day care members being offered transport, lunch, assistance with personal care and a wide range of activities that are designed to meet the individual’s needs.

Full service description:

We are registered with the Care Inspectorate and can give a range of personal care and assistance with regard to personal hygiene, toileting assistance, medication prompting etc. Mondays and Fridays - dementia specific day care Tuesdays - day care for older people with other disabilities from Queensferry/Dalmeny/Kirkliston Wednesdays - people from Ratho/Newbridge Thursdays - people from the Kirkliston/Newbridge Service users are normally picked up between 9.30am and 10.30am and taken home between 3pm and 4pm. Our transport is wheelchair accessible and has a tail lift if anyone has difficulty with steps. Our buildings are also wheelchair accessible. There is a programme of activities that include exercises to music by a trained therapist, reminiscence based activities, outings with our accessible transport, entertainers, carpet bowls and this is reviewed regularly with input from our service users. Being able to mix with their own peer group is one of the most beneficial aspects of coming to day care. Each service user has a personal plan stating what their needs are and what they would like to achieve by coming to day care to enable them to make the most of their day. Whilst it states we take referrals from Edinburgh City we are not a citywide service. We cover North West Rural Edinburgh which includes South Queensferry, Dalmeny, Kirkliston, Newbridge, Ratho Village and Station.

Price information:

Day care is currently £10.00 per day and staff would ensure that all potential service users are aware of benefit entitlements (mainly Attendance Allowance for this age group) which is not means tested and can be used to assist with paying for day care. Payment is preferably by standing order on a monthly basis, although other payment methods can be discussed on an individual basis. Please get in touch for up top date price information.

What is included/not included in the price of the break:

Lunch, snacks, transport to and from the house, and most of the activities programme are included in this price. On occasion, where an outing is quite costly, any extra addition to the normal day care fee would be agreed with the service user/family/carer but due to a wonderful fundraising team these additional costs are often supplemented by various grants and trust funding. Our fundraising team is dedicated to raising funds to enable our organisation to operate at its current level of service provision as our grants do not cover the whole costs of running these services. This allows us to sometimes offer a range of activities and extra treats at no extra cost to our service users.
