Parkinson’s Self Help Group has a long history of improving the lives of individuals, carers, families and communities, who experience negative physical health, mental health, emotional challenges and barriers due to a neurological diagnosis. Our past and current projects have served to break down these barriers, having a significant, positive impact on individual’s happiness, wellbeing and quality of life.

Full service description:

Aim

Improving the lives of individuals, carers, families and communities, who experience negative physical health, mental health, social isolation challenges and barriers due to a diagnosis of a neurological diagnosis.

Our members are given practical and emotional support to pursue their interests, hobbies and form positive relationships with staff, volunteers and members, together with growing natural support friendships and networks.

We encourage individuals to take the steps to improve their physical and mental health,, increase their independence, sense of purpose and feel more in control of their lives. Reducing isolation and empowering those who access the services.

Increase social inclusion, by building positive and supportive relationships.

Through activities which encourage and promote positive mental health influences and benefits. Encourage and nurture peer and natural support networks to those using the services. Together with providing support via staff, signposting and reffering to appropriate services.
