Brief description:
During this uncertain time, while we would usually have spent the summer providing valuable respite breaks for over 100 children at our idyllic houses, instead we have endeavoured to develop a digital outreach platform accessible to Honeypot children across the country. Our virtual workshops are giving them opportunity to keep in touch with Honeypot staff, to catch up with those they’ve met on previous respite breaks and to make countless new friends. Our virtual workshops are empowering young carers to discover and develop their creative talents in photography, art, music and drama. They’re also giving them an important space to have fun and to connect with each other. For more information please get in touch with us using the contact details below.

How do people access your service:
In order to be supported by Honeypot, each child needs a referral from a child care professional. This can be a teacher, doctor, social worker or police officer. We have a special form which needs to be filled in, and sent back to us. You can ask for a form by calling the number below. Once we have received a completed form, we will carry out a home visit with the child to find out about their likes, dislikes, and how we can support them best. If you’re based in London, the South West or South East of England, you can call our Children’s Services team at Honeypot House Hampshire on 02380 890 002. If you’re based in Wales, the North-West of England or the West Midlands, you can call our Children’s Services team at Honeypot Pen y Bryn on 01686 622 773.
Full service description:
Since 1996 Honeypot has been working to enhance the lives of young carers and vulnerable children aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and on-going outreach support. In the UK nationwide, we give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential. The Honeypot Children’s Charity offers both respite breaks and outreach support to young carers and vulnerable children, many of whom would otherwise have nowhere to turn. We are proud to be the only charity in the UK offering consistent support throughout childhood; from the age of 5 until a child’s 13th birthday. For our respite breaks, we collect 12-14 children from their local communities in our minibus and bring them to one of our two sites where they can make new friends, have fun and take a break from their caring role. Our sites are like mini hotels for children, and the staff engage them in a wide range of activities such as swimming in our onsite pools, riding bikes and go karts, trampolining, building dens in the forest and going on bug hunts, looking after the Honeypot pets, arts and crafts, pyjama parties, bedtime stories, and trips to the beach or a local theme park. Breaks run throughout the school holidays and every weekend, enabling children to play, have fun, and make happy memories which they can cherish for years to come. Children are invited back each year until they are 13 years old so they always have their next Honeypot adventure to look forward to.
