Brief description:

Homelands have four accessible self-catering lodges which offer short and long breaks in a seaside location. Guests can choose to use the adjacent community hub (Paxton Centre) offering individual/group activities and a café on certain weekdays. We cater for anyone affected by disability, including family, carers and friends.

The Cardy, Massney and Keil lodges each sleep 4 people (6 with sofa bed in lounge). They have one twin bedroom on the ground floor, one double/twin bedroom on the first floor and a comfortable double sofa bed in the living area. The downstairs living area is spacious to accommodate wheelchair users. The main bedroom on the ground floor in each lodge is fitted with an electric profiling bed with airflow mattress and has an electric overhead tracking hoist to aid transfers. Drummochy lodge can sleep up to 8 people, with two twin bedrooms on the ground floor each with an electric profiling bed and standard single bed, one double/twin bedroom on the first floor and the fourth bedroom on the first floor with a single bed and pull out bed underneath. Both electric profiling beds in this lodge have an airflow mattress. Drummochy has an internal balcony and walkway creating a stunning architectural feature and place to unwind and relax. All four lodges have a large fully accessible shower/wet room with w/c and wash hand basin and overhead tracking hoist. Grab rails are installed to aid transfers. Full service description:

A purpose built lodge with excellent facilities for people with disabilities in an area famed for its quaint fishing villages, places of historic interest and its numerous attractions and activities. Situated in the beautiful East Neuk of Fife, with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth, Homelands is a charitable trust providing accessible self-catering accommodation. The lodges have been purpose built for people with disabilities, long term health conditions and life limiting illnesses, consequently a wealth of features have been incorporated into the designs to ensure they are accessible. The ground floor bedrooms are fitted with a Guldmann H-frame ceiling tracking hoist. There is also one profiling bed in each downstairs bedroom with a pressure relief airflow mattress. The lodges also have a large wet room on the ground floor which benefits from a ceiling tracking hoist. In addition to the fixed equipment there are a wide range of portable specialist equipment available free of charge on request, including a shower trolley, portable hoist, Freeway shower chair/commode (assisted/self-propelled), Oxford electric stand aid and assisted and manual wheelchairs. The dining area opens out to a south-facing garden with splendid sea views. Sitting alongside the lodge is the Paxton Centre, a community hub for use by both the guests of the Homelands lodges and the local community. Our activity programme changes throughout the year. The Paxton Centre also runs a community cafe three times a week and guests are welcome to drop in for a drink, a snack and a chat.

‘Homelands’ is situated in the pretty seaside village of Lundin Links, with fine beaches and several golf courses nearby. The village of Largo, famous as Alexander Selkirk’s birthplace, is close by. Daniel Defoe based his novel, ‘Robinson Crusoe’, on the life of Selkirk. The village has a pharmacy, mini supermarket (free ATM), hairdresser, physiotherapist and a gift / coffee shop. The Old Manor Hotel has reasonably priced lunches and dinners and a carvery on Sundays and is a few hundred yards away. Blacketyside Farm Shop is a mile away heading towards Leven. There is also a swing park, tennis, golf and bowling clubs all within 200 metres.
