How do people access your service:
Places are obtained via your Social Work Department. Our Advisory Service can help you with this process, and can be contacted via the email address listed.
Type of accommodation:
The accommodation is a small homely building, offering 3 single en-suite bedrooms. The building is single level, accessible and includes design features to meet the needs of people who have a sensory impairment and/or use wheelchairs. Each en-suite is a wet room shower, and offers ample space for specialist equipment if required. There is also a shared bathroom. There is a large dining/activity area with a separate living room, kitchen and laundry, and a landscaped garden suitable for visitors who use wheelchairs.
Cultural needs catered for:
If required we support service users to attend any religious events. We are able to provide special diets, and will discuss cultural requirements with you to ensure we meet these appropriately.
Full service description:
The usual staffing ratio is 2 staff to 3 visitors, but 1:1 support can be provided if required. We encourage people to use public transport when able to do so, and there is adapted transport available for those who need it. The breaks will complement any existing support provided from elsewhere, and can support people to develop independence skills if they so wish. The people we support often have communication difficulties, and associated behaviours. We aim to provide short breaks in a range of ways to young people and adults that meet their needs, and fit in with family life. If you feel this particular type of short break is not for you, please contact the Advisory Officer listed, who will talk about alternative options with you.
Price information:
This is mostly covered by the Social Work Department, but there may be a charge towards costs which will be clarified once they have carried out a financial assessment. For people funding their own support, costs will be clarified once their support needs have been agreed.
What is included/not included in the price of the break:
Accommodation, fuel costs, laundry, 24 hour support from appropriately trained and experienced staff are all included, as are all meals including packed lunches if required. Service users have an opportunity to plan their break, and this includes day trips and activities. Anyone accessing the service would be required to meet the cost of any activity participated in. Guests should bring their own toiletries and arrange transport to and from the accommodation at the beginning and end of a break.
